I am a Bride-to-be but I am not photogenic

As a photographer I hear "you'll have to tell me exactly what do to, I am not good at this" a lot. My best advice for a bride-to-be who's worries about not being photogenic, is to ignore the camera. I said  ignore the CAMERA, not the photographer. People get uncomfortable with the idea of a photograph capturing all the things they do not like about themselves, so they suck in, or get really stiff because they think they will look better. The truth is doing those things only make you look stiff and uncomfortable, just like how you felt. Photographs are snippets of time where you can see emotion, so if you focus on your spouse, and how you feel towards them, or how excited you are to get to spend the rest of your life loving this person and them you, the photographs will show that.  Try to use the time with your photographer to focus on each other, slowing down, and being present. The wedding day is such a whirlwind already, instead of having your portrait time add to the stress, use it to decompress. The photographers job is to make it look good, your job is to be present in the moment you want captured.

The Healing Lens Hi, this is Alicia Corey Muniz, the owner and photographer of Alicia Corey Photography LLC. I hope you enjoy this contemplation of hot tips and tricks I have learned over the years of being a photographer. I hope to grow this blog as I learn more about being a business owner and hopefully one day becoming a full time photographer. Currently my full time job is in the health care field, and as much as I have learned and grown in that profession, photography is calling me every day. Do not hesitate to contact me!
